The New Disney Cars 2 Movie

Cars 2 is the sequel to the film Cars that was released in 2006. Like the prequel, this is also a computer animated 3D film and is produced by the American Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Disney Pictures. This is the only Pixar film, apart from Toy Story, to have a sequel. The tentative release date for the film in the US is June 24, 2011 and July 22, 2011 for the UK.

Directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Brad Lewis, the new Disney cars 2 movie uses the voices actors the likes of Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine and Emily Mortimer, with Randy Newman scoring the music. It will be released in Disney Digital 3D, IMAX 3D, RealD 3D and 2D. Since three voice actors have passed away since Cars’ release, it unsure whether the characters of Red and Peterbilt, Fillmore and Doc Hudson (voiced by Joe Ranft, George Carlin and Paul Newman respectively) will undergo a voice change or whether the characters will be done away with completely.

Taking off from where the sequel ended, this film sees the celebrity race car Lightning McQueen and its friend — the tow truck Mater head abroad to take part in the World Grand Prix that decides the fastest car in the world. But the journey, of course, is full of unforeseen incidents and surprises and to top that, Mater doubles up as an international spy and finds it hard to juggle assisting Lightning McQueen and being a part of a highly secretive spy mission. His mission leads him to a wild goose chase through the streets of Japan and Europe. To add to the excitement, there is an all-new car cast playing motley of characters including secret agents, villains and racing competitors.

It has been confirmed that the theatrical release of Cars 2 will include a short film that features the characters from Toy Story and will most probably be titled Hawaii and feature Barbie and Ken from Toy Story 3.
